Children's Book Baby Shower
It's hard to believe there are only eleven school days left. I love this time of year in Kindergarten ... the kids are just where we want them ... independently reading, writing, tying shoes, blowing noses, etc. etc.
The end of the school year always brings with it many celebrations and I'm very excited to share about one here! It was the perfect combination of Kindergarten teacher meets party blogger ... a children's book themed baby shower!
Last week at school, we threw a joint baby shower for two mom-to-be teachers and in true teacher form, everyone was asked to bring a book as a gift. I helped coordinate the shower and sprinkled in a few special touches to make it more of a party and not just your average lunch meeting.
Instead of a cake, we did a few sweet treats that I coordinated with beloved books.
I only did sweet treats but you could also incorporate some savory treats with your favorite children's book. Here's a few more ideas ...
Deviled Eggs with Green Eggs & Ham
Cheese & Crackers with The Stinky Cheese Man
Meatballs with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Pigs in a Blanket with The Three Little Pigs
Coconut Macaroons with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

I matted each book cover and then used double sided tape to adhere it to a clothespin which was perfect to clip on the edge of a serving bowl.
I also created a quick themed shower game ... guests guess the title of each famous book based on the cover snapshot.
The last little touch were these small bookplate cards for guests to tape in their books as a small memento for the moms - to - be.
It was the perfect little celebration!
